Levain Onboarding
Levain is the back-office and enterprise division of Cake Group’s DeFi earning platform, Bake, designed to help treasurers, hedge funds, and enterprise users securely manage digital assets on a single platform. It is also used internally by Bake to safeguard user funds, while its SDK and APIs enable external partners to build on top of the platform. To drive adoption, we opened Levain to external enterprise users—requiring a robust onboarding flow optimized for conversion.
The Problem
This project came with its own set of challenges. Below are the key obstacles we aimed to solve with the crypto wallet feature.
Complex product offering
Levain serves both treasurers and developers, making it inherently complex. The challenge was to simplify the experience by reducing jargon and streamlining the onboarding flow to ensure clarity and minimize drop-offs.
Safety and security
Levain’s Web3 onboarding introduces additional steps, such as secret phrase management, which are essential for security but increase the risk of user drop-off.
Project Goal
Get xx amount of engineers to sign up to Levain, with an incentive to build for free with enterprise credits.
Launch onboarding feature one week before token 2049, in order to allow the sales team to promote and connect with the web3 community and generate leads.
Enterprise "Invite" suite of tools need to be applied, for our sales team to invite potential developers and stakeholders to use Levain and also for clients to invite their team members.
Design System and Platform Revamp
This project aligned with a broader platform overhaul, introducing a redesigned dashboard with dark mode and a Tailwind-based UI. I contributed to the design system, dark mode implementation, and overall UI improvements, extending the updated visual language to the onboarding flow for consistency. Below is Levain’s refreshed interface.

The first step is for users to enter their email, behind the scenes, we already collected their email even if they don't click "Next" so we can follow up if they don't complete sign up.

By default, users are required to activate 2FA from the beginning.

We alllow users to onboard personally rather than organization, this is usually for solopreneurs and smaller businesses where enterprises, banks, hedge funds usually onboard as organizations

User then lands on this screen after completing their sign up, user can then start a new project, create wallets, or invite team members

What's Next & Takeaways
Launched ahead of Token 2049, the onboarding flow attracted Web3 builders and engineers to Levain. With traffic driven primarily by sales outreach, the flow achieved a 95% completion rate from high-intent users.
Email was critical for re-engagement and lead nurturing, leading me to design supporting email templates for the onboarding journey.
