Gotrade Social
Gotrade is a US stock trading app for Indonesian users, offering access to 600+ stocks with a low entry point of just $1, and trusted by over 1 million users under regulation from Indonesian authorities. To improve retention and drive network effects, we introduced a dedicated space within the app for users to share their trades, performance, and investing experiences with the community.

Target Users
Social traders: Users who actively share their trades, performance, and experiences on social platforms.
Signal followers: Users who rely on external signals and insights before making trading decisions.
Influencers/KOL: High-credibility users with large followings who share market opinions, signals, and trading experiences.
The Problem
External engagement
Social engagement largely happens outside the app, with users sharing their trades, gains, and positions on external platforms. While this drives brand exposure, it limits in-app engagement and retention.
Indirect engagement with the app
users cannot interact with or act on shared content, such as copying trades or participating in discussions. This creates a missed opportunity to deepen engagement within the product.
Project Goal
Allow users to post their trades on the social feed and allow other users to copy their trades directly from the feed
Trading volume from copying trades goal - xx USD
Get users to engage more with each other within the app. This can include sharing their portfolio, gains, losses, trades, setting up polls and even price predictions that the whole community can engage in rather than just reading a feed
Increase retention by xx%
Early AI Discovery
I face significant challenges in aligning the different opinions of the stakeholders; they all seem to have differing goals on what the feature should achieve and how it should work. So I decided to first come up with an interactive AI prototype made using Claude code, which i present to stakeholders in a quick call, where they then pick apart the prototype, and give me feedback before i can jump into design.

Different ways of composing a post, from price predictions or just simply writing and tagging another user
What's Next & Takeaways
The feature is being rolled out in phases, starting with text and image posts alongside trade sharing, with planned expansions including portfolio performance, polls, and price predictions.
Early signals are strong, with increasing daily post activity as users become familiar with the feature. It has quickly become the second most engaged feature after News, with users spending 5–7 minutes on average browsing and interacting with the feed, alongside increased participation in trading directly through the social feature.
